As an Italian living and running a multi-million dollar business in the US, Dr. Beniamino Barbieri can attest to the importance of transcultural competence both within a company and with clients from all around the world. This is also the future of our language students, whether they work in the STEM sector or not. In this webinar we will cover a wide range of topics, from the details of doing business internationally to the big-picture topics of language use, cultural savvy and emerging trends. Dr. Barbieri will be interviewed by his wife, Prof. Annie Abbott who teaches courses such as Business Spanish and Spanish & Entrepreneurship at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Beniamino F. Barbieri is the owner of ISS, Inc., a high-tech business that makes scientific instrumentation and is entering the clinical device market: http://iss.com/. About 50% of sales are international. Everything from R&D, production, marketing and sales takes place at the company headquarters in Champaign, IL. Dr. Barbieri is originally from Costa Volpino, Italy and studied physics at the University of Pisa.
