Rita Jesus Leduc is a Master’s student in Portuguese as a Non-Native Language at Universidade Aberta in Lisbon, Portugal. Her main research areas are Business Portuguese, E-learning and Intercultural Communication. She believes that in the globalized world we live in technologies play an important role in foreign language teaching bringing people closer together and providing easy access to authentic materials; she also believes that culture is a very important part of foreign language learning since it prepares students at an intercultural level for a global job market.
She is Portuguese and her background is English and French Teaching and Literature. She spent one semester at the University of Maynooth, Ireland as an international student of the ERASMUS program. She lived in Dublin, Ireland for 7 years, where she taught French to teenagers, Portuguese for Foreigners to adults and she was also a childcare assistant. The wide age range of her students showed her how important it is to adapt your teaching methods and materials to your students’ needs.
